Assessment & Due Diligence

“The assessment and due diligence projects I’ve done range from a one day ‘tell us what you think’ on behalf of a prospective investor, to several-month comprehensive on-site reviews of companies on behalf of their owners or lenders.”

In the latter case I start with a seven-page due diligence checklist I’ve developed over the years, and modify it as appropriate to address the specifics of the client’s requirements. Without any changes to the checklist, though, the final deliverable is a detailed report on the company’s position in its industry, strategic risks and opportunities, management strength, controls, cash flow and earnings, capital structure, stakeholder analysis, notional five-year financial outlook, valuation thoughts, and recommendations. Depending on the complexity of the business and its industry, it can take 10+ weeks of full-time work to create this sort of report.
